Home Who We Are People

A Spiritual Home Where You Belong

At Temple Israel of Boston, we acknowledge, welcome, and honor each individual in our community for who they are. We celebrate our community’s diversity in personal identities and lived experiences. Loving kindness, caring about others, and committing ourselves to lift up and protect each other’s humanity is our righteous pursuit.

Temple Israel welcomes all who enter our space! This is a place where you can express your full self – your religious background, race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, political affiliation, ability, age, sexual orientation, and gender identity. May all who enter find peace within these walls, as we continue our mission of living Judaism together.

“For my House shall be called a House of Prayer for All Peoples”

– Isaiah 56:7

Who We Are

Over 1,350 families currently call Temple Israel their spiritual home and are engaged through thought-provoking adult education programs, award-winning youth offerings, and multiple opportunities to serve with righteous impact. Thousands of others across the U.S. and internationally participate remotely in our available offerings. Our outstanding 5-member clergy team, lay leaders, and professional staff work together to respond to the needs of our community and shape our vision for the future.

“At the heart of Temple Israel is the search for true connection: to ourselves, to others, and to something bigger than ourselves. Now, more than ever, Temple Israel holds us in its heart. I am so grateful to “see” and hear our clergy, our teachers, our fellow members virtually and be uplifted together through creativity, optimism, energy, and compassion.”
