Gather with the Temple Israel community for Saturday morning Torah Study.

Temple Israel and the Frances Jacobson Early Childhood Center are delighted to be co-hosting Israeli artist Hanoch Piven the weekend of March 17-18, 2023. Piven is an award-winning illustrator, educator and seasoned “creative instigator,” whose artwork is unique in both form and methodology. By reinventing the meaning and use of everyday objects he forges associations between these and the subject of his creation. Piven's art is playful, inclusive and transformative. Piven's new book Dream Big, Laugh Often… and more Great Advice from the Bible, co-authored by Torah Scholar Shira Hecht-Keller, imagines what advice 14 different Bible characters would have given, paired with portraits brought to life with Piven’s joyful and clever art made from found objects, including Abraham and Sarah, Moses and Miriam, David and Deborah and more.

9:00 - 10:15 a.m. (onsite and online) Torah Service led by Temple Israel Clergy, followed by in-depth learning taught by guest educators Hanoch Piven and Shira Hecht-Keller. Join us onsite, on Zoom, on Facebook Live, or via Temple Israel's livestream.

10:30 - 11:30 a.m. (onsite only) Art Making Workshop and Torah Learning with Hanoch Piven and Shira Hecht-Keller.  For those onsite, we will transition to a new space to continue our learning with a hands-on art making, followed by a festive oneg. All are welcome. Please note this workshop is onsite only and we request that you RSVP so we can plan accordingly for supplies.
