Progressive Israel Caucus Meeting
TIPIC’s January meeting will focus on how the print and news media is covering the war between Israel-Gaza. Our guests will be our own Ellen Clegg (TI Trustee and former Globe editor) and her friend and colleague, Charlie Radin (former Globe editor). They will discuss how war correspondents and journalists cover international conflicts, tools we can use to assess the accuracy and bias of the reporting, and how photographs and quotations are selected for an article, among other issues.
Ellen Clegg held a variety of editing positions at The Boston Globe in a career that spanned more than three decades. She served as city editor, Page One editor, and was editor of The Globe's opinion pages and Ideas section from 2014 to 2018.
Charles Radin worked for more than three decades at The Boston Globe. As a foreign correspondent, he reported extensively from the Balkans, Africa, Japan, and the Middle East. He covered the invasion of Iraq and the 2006 Israeli-Lebanese war and served as Middle East Bureau chief from 2001 to 2005.
