Love and Longing: A Musical Exploration of The Varying Perspectives of Love and Longing Through The Eyes of Jewish Composers
Join us as pianist Lisa Weiss and soprano Michelle Ravitsky present an eclectic recital of art songs by Jewish composers, including Mendelssohn, Mahler, Milhaud, Schoenberg, Gershwin, Bernstein, Weill, Previn, Latiman and Kander! Their thoughtfully curated program is unified by the overarching theme of Love and Longing, as explored through a variety of perspectives. Additionally, Laitman’s “Into Eternity” and Milhaud’s “Lamentations” will address specifically Jewish topics. Lisa, a Professor of Music Emerita at Goucher College (and Boston native) is a seasoned performer, hailed by the New York Times as “a musician worthy of attention and able to hold it.” Michelle has performed with the Houston Grand Opera, Washington National Opera, and Opera San Antonio, and is the General Manager for the Children’s Chorus of Washington DC.
