Temple Israel Progressive Israel Caucus Book Group
Join us onsite or online on Tuesday, December 16, 7:00 pm—8:30 pm for the Temple Israel Progressive Israel Caucus Book Group.
Ever since seizing the West Bank in 1967, Israel has asserted increasing governance and control of the territory. This violence has accelerated since October 7th. The TIPIC book group will be focusing our next meeting on the broader of governance in the West Bank as well as settler violence in the Palestinian settlements, in the olive groves, grazing lands and water supply.
Readings
Two article from 972 Magazine, an Israel opinion magazine, highlighting the conflicts.
- “In a West Bank ‘firing zone,’ Palestinians are erased as settlers lay down roots.”
- “Settler terror devastates West Bank olive harvest.”
A brief PowerPoint prepared by Judith Baker, a book club regular and Temple Israel member, on the ecology and importance to Palestinians of the Olive Tree and its Harvest.
Article prepared by the International Crises Center: “Sovereignty in All but Name: Israel’s Quickening Annexation of the West Bank”. This article provides a broader context for understanding the causes for the dramatic changes in the governance of the West Bank and Israel.

The Temple Israel Progressive Israel Caucus (TIPIC) is a congregant-led group that seeks to create safe spaces for temple members to explore and express perspectives on Israel. If you would like to start your own lay-led group with staff support to connect with other Temple Israel members who have common interests, passions, or identities, please let us know!
