Join the Temple Israel Progressive Israel Caucus (TIPIC) onsite or online for the next Speaker Series event, on December 8 at 7:00 p.m., featuring Dimitra Dimopoulou.

Dimitra Dimopoulou is a former Associate of The Blackstone Group, a private equity firm, and a member of the International Leadership Council of the World Union for Progressive Judaism (WUPJ), which works to connect and support Reform/Progressive Jewish congregations worldwide. She is also a member of the Temple Israel Progressive Israel Caucus (TIPIC) Steering Team. Dimitra’s heartfelt goal is to work toward the day when it will be possible for any Jew living in any country to worship and study in a Jewish congregation which embodies egalitarian, pluralistic values, including women’s and LGBTQ+ rights, democracy, co-existence and tikkun olam.

Dimitra was a WUPJ delegate to the 39th World Zionist Congress in Jerusalem, part of a coalition that included not only the global Reform and Conservative (Masorti) movements, but also partners from political slates and organizations which similarly seek to uphold progressive and democratic values in Israel and in the Diaspora.

Dimitra will speak about the debates during and outcomes of the World Zionist Congress of October 2025, but will also place her experiences there in the context of her involvement with the World Union for Progressive Judaism on the eve of its Centennial, her attendance at the It’s Time Peace Conference in Jerusalem in May 2025, and her participation in the WUPJ/ARZENU Solidarity Mission to Israel in March 2024. Lastly, she will speak about the demonstrations she joined in Paris Square in Jerusalem and Hostage Square in Tel Aviv in the course of 4 visits to Israel over the last 18 months, including on the day the last 20 living hostages who were kidnapped on October 7th attacks were released by Hamas.
