Our first Temple Israel Progressive Israel Caucus (TIPIC) Speaker Series event, on October 28 at 7:00 p.m., features Dr. Yasmeen Abu Fraiha speaking about The Bedouin of Southern Israel.

Dr. Abu Fraiha is a Palestinian-Israeli physician currently completing a clinical fellowship in critical care medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. She is a health policy expert and activist. Dr. Abu Fraiha has served as the Health Policy Director at the Task Force for Health Promotion and Equity in the Arab Society at the Israeli Ministry of Health, leading major efforts and interventions to deal with health disparities between Jews and Arabs in Israel. Dr. Abu Fraiha has founded several NGOs, including Yanabia, which promotes socio-economic development of the Bedouin community in Israel. She also serves on the Boards of several NGOs, including The New Israel Fund. She has received numerous honors in Israel for her work.

Dr. Abu Fraiha was a first responder treating victims of Hamas’ brutal attacks on October 7. She lost many colleagues, friends and neighbors on that day and subsequently, during Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
