A Different High Holidays with Rabbi Ebn Leader

Most North American liberal congregations are rooted in the Ashkenazi tradition. In this tradition Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur are known as "Days of Awe", and the emotional valence of the liturgy tends towards fear and remorse. In many Sefardic communities however, the emotional focus of these days is on love and even on joy. Come and learn in this two-session class about this difference through both choices of prayers and interpretations of the liturgy in non-Ashkenazi traditions.
