Who are we?

Temple Israel is looking for enthusiastic, imaginative, and skillful teachers to join our team of educators for the 2025-2026 school year. There are positions available in grades preschool – 7^th grade for Sunday mornings, with potential to teach in our grades 8-12, pluralistic teen program too.

In our religious school, kids 3 years old through 7^th grade can learn, grow, and find their own meaningful Jewish communities. Qualifications of Interested Candidates

• Candidates to teach in our school should enjoy working with children and have prior successful experiences with kids. Formal teaching experience is not a requirement; folks interested in learning how to teach who are seeking training as new teachers are encouraged to apply.
• Familiarity with second language pedagogy, technology applications, curriculum development, and student assessment is desirable, but not required. Good command of Biblical Hebrew also a plus.
• Candidates should be comfortable adopting the curricular vision of the religious school as we seek to construct powerful educational experiences that are inclusive, joyful, and inspiring.
• Temple Israel Religious School has a commitment to professional development and offers a unique and yearlong learning opportunity to all its faculty. Ideal candidates will be collaborative teachers who relish the idea of working, growing, and learning alongside their colleagues.
• Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience required.

This position is part time. We offer competitive pay with teaching rates ranging from $55-85/per hour. Rates vary depending on experience and longevity at Temple Israel.

Schedule

Sundays 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. are the general Sunday hours, though individual schedules may vary based on assigned classes. Our teen program meets on Monday nights 5:45 – 8:30 p.m., and our religious school meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.

About Temple Israel

Temple Israel is widely recognized as the largest reform temple in New England, and it is one of the most prominent synagogues in the greater Boston area. With over 1,400 member families, our impact within the Boston Jewish Community runs deep. Temple Israel is known for offering an array of Jewish experiences and cultural and social programming, including interfaith inclusion and social justice activism. Our historic building is home to a K-12 Religious School and Teen Program, and a well-renowned preschool.

Key Responsibilities:

Audio-Visual (AV) Support: 

• Set up, operate, and maintain AV equipment, including projectors, microphones, sound systems, video conferencing tools, lighting, and displays. 
• Troubleshoot and resolve AV technical issues promptly to minimize disruptions during events.
• Work closely with departments to ensure their AV needs are prepared and met, providing guidance on technology use and delivering a seamless experience. 
• Conduct pre-event equipment checks to ensure all systems are functioning correctly.
• Maintain an inventory of AV equipment, coordinating repairs or replacements as needed.
• Create and distribute documentation on how to use AV equipment 
• Train, hire, and schedule all additional AV staff as needed. 

Event and Programs Support: 

• Collaborate with the program staff and event coordinator to ensure the successful execution of programs, meetings, and events. 
• Assist our facilities team with room setups and teardowns, including arranging furniture, signage, and other necessary items for events. 
• Provide on-site technical support during events to address any last-minute requests or issues.
• Provide support to the Clergy team for all audio visual needs for worship services, specifically Friday evenings, bringing their vision to life. 
• Maintain and update documentation to share with staff and hired support as needed on all AV equipment.

Qualifications:

• Experience in operating and maintaining AV systems in a professional setting, including comfort in sound engineering. 
• Knowledge of video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Vimeo, YouTube), AV control systems, and troubleshooting common technical issues. 
• Familiarity with basic IT networking and connectivity for AV systems. 
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members and vendors. 
• Physical ability to lift and move equipment and furniture as part of event setup.
• Willingness to cross-train in other areas and contribute to a variety of tasks with a team oriented attitude. 
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for congregants, families, and guests.

• Develop and implement creative strategies to engage members and those in our wider orbit in synagogue life.
• Regularly meet one-on-one and in small groups with community members to build relationships and help them find meaningful pathways into Jewish life and learning.
• Administratively support existing engagement models and strategies, including collecting and maintaining engagement data
• Collaborate with clergy, lay leaders, and staff to create accessible community programs and initiatives that reflect our values.
• Work in partnership with the Membership Associate to support new and prospective members on their journey into our community.
• Serve as the primary thought partner and logistical coordinator for TI Circles, our small-groups initiative that brings people together around shared interests and identities.
• Advance Temple Israel’s commitment to Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) through thoughtful and welcoming engagement practices.
• Regularly and effectively communicate with lay leaders, staff, and organizational partners through email, telephone, and newsletters to ensure smooth collaboration
• Be a visible and welcoming presence during events, programs, and holidays (including evenings and weekends as needed).

Approximately 10-15 hours/week

Do you love gathering people, building Jewish community, and making sure everyone feels like they belong? Are you passionate about creating meaningful and inclusive experiences for young adults in their 20s and 30s?

Temple Israel of Boston is seeking a part-time Riverway Project Coordinator to help lead our nationally recognized young adult community. Each year, Riverway connects more than 1,500 young adults in Greater Boston through soulful Shabbat and holiday experiences, Jewish learning, social events, and justice work. You’ll be at the center of it all—planning programs, welcoming newcomers, and helping people find connection and meaning.

What You’ll Do

• Be a warm and visible presence at Riverway programs, Shabbat services, and events.
• Support and lead the Riverway Leadership Team, a dynamic group of volunteer partners who shape and lead the Riverway community.
• Build relationships with young adults one-on-one and serve as a connector to opportunities for deeper engagement.
• Coordinate program logistics (room setup, registration, communications, Zoom links, etc.).
• Maintain our social media presence and send weekly Riverway email newsletters.
• Enter attendance and engagement data into our database to help track impact and growth.
• Collaborate with Temple Israel clergy and staff to plan and execute meaningful programs.

What You Bring

• A warm, approachable, and outgoing presence.
• Experience in event planning, Jewish communal life, or young adult programming.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Comfort with technology and social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Salesforce, etc.).
