There is a story in the Midrash of several rabbis discussing what the most important pasuk (verse) in the Torah is -- Rabbi Akiva says it's, "Love your neighbor as yourself;" Ben Zoma says it's, "Shema Yisrael...," and so on.

In this 3-part course, Rabbinic Intern Naomi Gurt Lind will guide us as we look at the themes of each proposed pasuk and discuss why each Rabbi chose the pasuk he did, as well as which one speaks to us individually today.

This online class is free and open to all. Meets weekly on Thursdays from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. ET, July 7 - July 21, 2022. Register to join the class and get the Zoom link. Contact Brigid Goggin at bgoggin@tisrael.org with questions.

About the Teacher: Naomi Gurt Lind is a student in the rabbinical program at Hebrew College and an intern at Temple Israel, among other places. When not teaching or learning, Naomi enjoys spending time with her spouse and their two genius boys, solving crossword puzzles (in pencil), and walking in the sunshine.
