HUC Connect Civil Society Webinar: Reparations and Jewish Thought

Tuesday, May 10 at 2:00 p.m. ET

In this series, we probe the pressing concerns of our civic life today, including race and identity, elections, prison reform, and religious voices on social justice issues. There is no doubt America was built by enslaved people. Though many argue whether anything is owed to their descendants, Judaism strongly disagrees. Join us as we explore reparations through a Jewish lens.

Rabbi Jonathan Crane, Raymond F. Schinazi Scholar of Bioethics and Jewish Thought at the Ethics Center at Emory University, Professor of Medicine at the Emory School of Medicine, and Professor of Religion at Emory College of Arts and Sciences will be in conversation with Christina Jefferson, MS HRM, the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the San Francisco 49ers. The conversation will be moderated by Andrew Rehfeld, President of Hebrew Union College.

Free online event open to all. Register here to get the Zoom link. Be sure to select "May 10" as the time option on the form.

This webinar is offered in partnership with HUC Connect as their Dr. Fritz Bamberger Memorial Lecture Series, sponsored by the Bamberger Family in memory of their father, Dr. Fritz Bamberger, z”l, who served as Assistant to the President and Professor of Intellectual History at HUC-JIR/New York.
