IDF Veterans and the True Cost of Occupation

Most Israelis are walled off from the reality of everyday life in the occupied Palestinian territories – literally and figuratively. New Israel Fund grantee Breaking the Silence was founded by a group of IDF veterans who wanted to break down that barrier to educate the Israeli public and spread the word among diaspora Jews worldwide about the moral and human costs of the occupation.

Join us on Sunday, November 13 at 7:00 p.m. for a conversation with two Breaking the Silence members and a screening of Mission: Hebron, a 20-minute documentary by Rona Segal based on the testimony of Israeli soldiers who served in the largest Palestinian city in the West Bank. We hope this dynamic film will inspire you to get your question answered.

Since 2004, Breaking the Silence has published testimonies, conducted tours in the West Bank, and documented the harsh realities of the occupation through the voices of former soldiers. NIF is particularly proud to support Breaking the Silence’s efforts to bring the reality of the occupation to young Israelis before they begin their military service.

This is a free, onsite event hosted at Temple Israel of Boston. All are welcome. RSVP to attend.   Co-sponsored by New Israel Fund, The Center for Adult Jewish Learning at Temple Israel, and Congregation Dorshei Tzedek.
