The last 18 months and the last few weeks have seen an earthquake in the geopolitics of Europe, the Middle East and indeed the world. Please join noted essayist and analyst Vladislav Davidzon for an author talk and reflections on several current geopolitical crises and the Jewish world - the war in Ukraine, the situation of Israel, and the role of Europe.

All of these topics are addressed in his new book of essays,  Jewish-Ukrainian Relations and the Birth of a Political Nation, which deals mostly with the issue of Ukrainian-Jewish relations and its historical legacy in the context of a Russian invasion of Ukraine. It charts the events that took place in Ukraine after the 2013-2014 Euromaidan Revolution and focuses on the place of Ukrainian Jewry within a quickly developing Ukrainian political nation. His essays also address the broader geopolitical complex of Europe, Russia, Ukraine and Israel.

Davidzon is the founding editor of The Odessa Review  and his articles have appeared in Foreign Policy, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Observer, and Bookforum Magazine. He is a fellow at the Atlantic Council and the author of From Odessa With Love (Academica Press, 2021). He lives in Paris but travels frequently to Ukraine and around the former Soviet bloc.  He is presently speaking actively on the Hamas-Israel war.
