Please join us at Temple Ohabei Shalom for a Tisha B'Av service sponsored jointly by Temple Israel of Boston, Temple Ohabei Shalom, and Temple Sinai. We will enter together into an important day of communal memory, mourning, and renewed hope as we observe Tisha B’Av (the 9th day of the Hebrew month of Av).

For thousands of years, this date has been one for fasting and mourning in remembrance of the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, and over time it has come to represent a time to mourn for and reflect upon other losses and challenges throughout Jewish history. Come hear the sorrowful and beautiful sound of the book of Lamentations (Eicha) chanted in Hebrew by Cantor Maayan Harel, and join in song, prayer, and readings that will help us connect to the themes and emotional landscape of the day.

The candle-lit service will be held in the Temple Ohabei Shalom Chapel (1187 Beacon Street, Brookline) and will be led by Rabbi Audrey Marcus Berkman and Cantor Maayan Harel. If you cannot join us onsite, you can join us online.
