In June, we held our annual Commemoration Service at the Temple Israel Cemetery in Wakefield. We toured the graves of six women, each of whom has an interesting history. Following is one of those stories:
Theresa and Michael Rosenfeld were early members of the Temple, and were married by Rabbi Shoninger. Theresa had fifteen children, at least seven of whom died young. Theresa and Michael erected a monument to their deceased children.
The names of the seven children who died young are engraved on the sides of the monument:
Theresa died in 1920 at the age of 78. Note the engraving of her initials (TR) at the top of her headstone.
Their daughter, Charlotte Rosenfeld Jacob, who did live to 80, was buried in the family plot in 1944.
