Men’s Softball

In 2012, two Temple Israel congregants, Scott Elisofon and Laurence Bailen, created our Men’s Softball teams to play in the Men’s Shul Softball League, which is comprised of various Temples from the greater Boston area. The teams were created in an effort to strengthen the TI men’s community while also reliving their youth by getting back out on the baseball field. Both teams have been very successful on the fields and are having a lot of fun.

In addition to the league, the men have participated in a charity softball tournament which was organized by the Men’s Shul Softball League. All proceeds went to the Jewish Family & Children’s Service Family Table, the largest kosher food pantry in New England. Way to go, teams!

TI Team 1

Men's Softball

After a great 2016 softball season, TI Team 1 won the AAA championship of the Men’s Shul Softball League 8-5, in a close game vs. Temple Beth Avodah of Newton. The Kiddush Cup is coming back to TI!

In 2015, TI Team 1 claimed the Kiddush Cup Championship for the AA division of the Men’s Shul Softball League. The team, managed by Scott Elisofon, finished off an undefeated 9-0 regular season, followed by three victories in the playoffs to win the Cup. The Kiddush Cup trophy is on display in the Temple Israel lobby.
