How to Chant Torah with Cantor Alicia Stillman

The Torah is one of the greatest musicals ever written – if you’ve wondered if it were possible to learn to chant Torah as an adult, the time has come! The art and beauty of Torah Cantillation, the trope markings that inform how each word and phrase is chanted, allows you to delve deeper into the words and lessons of Torah with music as your guide.

The 7 weeks that connect Pesach to Shavuot are an ideal time to deepen our relationship to Torah. Pesach has delivered us to freedom and Shavuot celebrates our receiving the Torah on Mt. Sinai! What a time to learn to chant Torah!

Join Cantor Alicia Stillman as we learn the why, how, and what of cantillation symbols and their sounds, using actual verses from the Torah so you can see, experience, and master it yourself.

This is a free, online class open to all. The only pre-requisite is a basic ability to read and decode Hebrew and a willingness to learn!

Class Details:

Class meets online via Zoom on Friday afternoons, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time for 7 sessions, starting April 22 and ending June 3, 2022.
