SHOFAR: A Music Documentary
SHOFAR, a music documentary, is a personal journey to understand the meaning of the Shofar. It is driven by David's ceramic sculpting of a set of shofrot (shofars) that are ultimately played by an ensemble of shofar blowers at the end of the movie.

J. David Jacobs has been making short films and sculpting in ceramics over the last 20 years. His sculptures have appeared in four juried shows in 2026, receiving First Prize Sculpture for one piece in the North River Arts Festival. David seeks to convey emotion in his realistic portraits and abstract pieces. Many of his pieces address Jewish themes and the complexities of relationship. David sculpts at his studio in Brewster, Cape Cod, and at the Harvard Ceramic Studio. His sculptures can be seen online here. David's films have covered genres as wide as SciFi, Musical, Comedy and now Documentary. His films can be seen online here.
