Temple Israel Progressive Israel Caucus (TIPIC) Book Group
Join us onsite or online on Tuesday, January 7th, 7:00 pm—8:30 pm for the Temple Israel Progressive Israel Caucus Book Group to discuss The Message by Ta-Nehisi Coates. We will discuss the fourth essay in this collection, “The Gigantic Dream”, pp. 115-233. This essay reviews Coates’ ten-day visit to Israel and Palestine, undertaken before October 7, 2023, where he explores his view of the contrasting realities of Israel as both redemption for the Jews and a stateless life for the Palestinians in the West Bank. Ta-Nehisi Coates is a prominent African American author, former writer at the Atlantic, winner of the National Book Award in 2015 for Between the World and Me, and professor at Howard University.
