How can we access wisdom? To the ancients, texts revealed, explained, and elucidated how one gains wisdom. We have studied many of these sources, especially the book of Proverbs. Now, we proceed to the next step of the wisdom journey to discover how wisdom becomes manifest in our actions. From where does justice emerge as it intersects with wisdom?

Join Rabbi Elaine Zecher once a month as we delve into the Book of Proverbs through a social justice lens, aided by commentary by Rabbi Dr. Shmuly Yanklowitz with this particular focus. In each session, we will explore the text through close reading, conversation, and the practice of modern midrash.

This free online class meets the first Thursday of the month from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. November 2022 - June 2023 . All are welcome, no prior experience required.

New students are welcome throughout the year, but will be expected to catch up on reading from past classes. Please email McKenzie Johnson at mjohnson@tisrael.org if you are interested in joining.

Owning the commentary by Rabbi Yanklowitz will be helpful, and you can purchase a copy here.
