TILLI Summer Session - "Slay the Dragon" Film Screening and Discussion

June 23, 2022

11:00 AM - 12:30 PM EDT

Join us for a screening and discussion of "Slay the Dragon", a documentary that highlights Flint, Michigan where the legislature appointed a receiver as the city manager. The film does a skillful job distilling the complicated history of how gerrymandering flips statehouses and follows a grassroots activist, Katie Foley, as she pushes for a ballot measure that in 2018 gave redistricting authority to an independent commission.

We will watch the film together, followed by a discussion moderated by Sandy Wixted.

This is an online event via Zoom. Please register here to get the Zoom link. Contact Ann Abrams at tilli@tisrael.org with questions.

This event is offered as part of the TILLI Summer Session 2022, featuring a series of programs that address recent attacks on the democratic process. The struggle to vote and to making every vote count is central to what happens both at the local and national levels. Yet, we watch as state legislatures alter voting rules and redistrict their state maps to further restrict access to voting. Where does democracy go from here? All TILLI Summer Sessions are free and open to all.
