The Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles, California hosts an ongoing exhibit titled Common Ground: The Heart of Community. Incorporating hundreds of objects, documents, and photographs from JANM’s collection, this exhibition chronicles Japanese American history, beginning in the late 1800s with the early days of the Issei (first generation) pioneers and continuing through the World War II incarceration, post-war resettlement, and the redress movement. Among the many notable artifacts on display is a Heart Mountain barracks, an original structure saved and preserved from the concentration camp in Wyoming.
Join TILLI (Temple Israel Lifelong Learning Initiative) for a special guided online tour of the Common Ground exhibit on Thursday, March 31 at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
This event is part of the TILLI Winter 2022 Series, and is free and open to everyone. Register and receive the Zoom link. Contact Anne Abrams at tilli@tisrael.org or call 617-566-3960 with questions.
