December was a lot of fun for 2B! Because Hanukkah spanned several classes, we had the opportunity to celebrate it and learn about it in all different ways. We learned several Hanukkah songs in music, played Hanukkah bingo and discussed the story and significance of the holiday.
We also had some special programming including an outstanding school-wide music program and a special party with the whole of second and third grade that included special crafts and a dreidel tournament.
We’ve spent much of the first half of the year learning about ways to perform good deeds in order to be good community members, so in order to share our holiday fun with others, we made holiday cards for residents of a local nursing home.
Through all of the excitement in December, 2B even managed to finish learning to recognize and write all of the letters of the alef bet, which is a huge accomplishment! Moving forward, we’ll be learning a few remaining vowels and practicing reading longer strings of words.
Looking forward to an exciting second half of the year!
