Family Table is a community program which provides kosher food to over 150 needy Jewish households in the Boston area. This year, we are responsible for collecting 40 jars of kosher peanut butter and 40 boxes of kosher raisins each month. Please consider bringing these item with you next time you are in the building. The collection basket is next to the baker’s rack in the Sherman Lobby. For more information about Family Table, please call TI Family Table Coordinators, Cathy and Michael Malamut at 781-329-9096.

Greater Boston Coalition for LiteracyLearn More
The Henderson School is a model school for parent involvement and serves a diverse cultural community of students, some of whom have special physical and academic needs. Members of Temple Israel have served as reading partners to students in Grades 1 and 2 through the Coalition for Literacy program coordinated by the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC). The program involves tutoring a student in reading once a week, after school, for an hour. Training and resources are provided by the Coalition; appreciation and positive experiences are provided by the students and their parents and teachers. For more information please call Rhea Bufferd at 617-969-5562.
Sunday's BreadLearn More
Sunday’s Bread is a program that serves free hot meals to people in need at the Church of St. John the Evangelist. The mission is to provide healthy meals in a safe and inviting atmosphere. This is an interfaith, interracial, interdenominational activity. Over the course of its 28 years, Sunday’s Bread has served more than 300,000 guests. Our long-standing commitment to Sunday’s Bread is to provide volunteers on the first Sunday of each month. For more information please call Sue Misselbeck at 617-566-3960 x117.
Greater Boston Food BankLearn More
The Greater Boston Food Bank’s objective is to distribute enough food to provide at least one meal a day to those in need. Because so many of our congregants and visitors bring a donation of canned food when they come to Temple Israel, we are the #1 non-profit donor to the food bank. For more information please call Sue Misselbeck at 617-566-3960 x117.
