Today, 5th grade visited the sukkah and took turns shaking the lulav and etrog. We learned how sukkot customs reinforce social justice values. The sukkah is an open structure to ensure guests are always welcome. It is customary on sukkot to invite biblical heroes (ushpizin) into our sukkah to teach us the importance of hospitality. We also realized how lucky we are that we live in permanent, comfortable homes.
5th Grade ended the day with a fun game of Hebrew bingo.
