The Adult B’Mitzvah cohort is a four-semester class for adult learners, preparing them for a B’Mitzvah when students will lead Shabbat morning services with the Temple Israel clergy, during which they will both share personal writings as well as read from the Torah.

Based on the three pillars of Reform Judaism: God, Torah, and Israel, the class will cover such varied areas as Jewish history, Israel, the Jewish bookshelf, liturgy, mitzvot, theology, music, and Hebrew. Woven into the four semesters will be shared observances of the holidays and understanding of their significance, as well as their agricultural ties to Israel and the Torah.

We believe that the entire congregation benefits when individual members expand their knowledge and observance of sacred Jewish moments — we could not be happier to offer you the opportunity to learn together.
