Month of Elul

Let’s be honest: However used to Zoom we are, the world still feels upside down, inside out, and backwards — and so do we. (If you don’t, please share your secret.) Lucky for us, the moon of Elul is here.

In this special Elul circle, we’ll braid yoga with Torah, engaging in deep and lasting heshbon nefeshan accounting of our way of being, an honest self-reflection. The physical stretches will be slow and deep, just like the practice of meeting ourselves. This is brave and powerful work. It’s how we can turn ourselves, and the world, right-side up.

Each class in the series stands on its own. For lasting transformation, we encourage giving yourself the space of the full cycle. Every week, the yoga practice is preceded by a dvar (a word of Torah) and followed, for those who wish to join, by a half-hour of community time, culminating, at the end of the cycle, in a ritual to bid farewell to the moon.

Schedule details for our 4-week series for the month of Elul:
All classes will start with yoga from 4:00 – 5:10 p.m., followed by an elective community time from 5:15 – 5:45 p.m.

Week 1: Wednesday, August 26 (6th of Elul)
Week 2: Wednesday, September 2  (13th of Elul)
Week 3: Wedneday, September 9 (20th of Elul)
Week 4: Wednesday, September 16 (27th of Elul)

This series is offered in partnership with Breath Lab, a home for the reanimation of ancient Jewish wisdom around the body and breath. Housed on Hebrew College’s campus, Breath Lab is co-organized by Yaakov Ginsberg-Schreck, a rabbi-in-training, and Evelyn Punch, a seasoned yoga teacher with a background in anatomy.


The Center for Adult Jewish Learning follows a “Pay What You Can” model for registration.  To register for this class, please select “Add” for each attendee you wish to register at the pricing level of your choice, then click “Continue” to complete registration.

**To sign up for multiple “Single Sessions”, please click the “Add” button for the total number of sessions you want to attend at the price level of your choice.**

“Pay What You Can” Registration Details:
-A 4-week Class Pass is available at each registration level with a 5% discount for those who wish to commit to the full month.
-Standard Registration is set at $25 per class session.
-Supporter Registration is set at $35 per class session. This level is for those who are able to contribute more to help keep our programs accessible for all.
-Reduced Registration is set at $10 per class session. This level is for those who wish to participate but may find the Standard Registration fee prohibitive.
