In this 3-part series, join Cantor Alicia Stillman as we explore the lives and works of some of the most recognized and prolific Broadway composers of the 20th century. As we do so, you’ll notice just how many of these legendary writers were influenced by their Jewish heritage, and the climate of American-Jewish relations in which they lived. In turn, they poured the richness and depth of their experiences right back into the music and stories that they created for the stage. The general public saw these musicals as Broadway hits, but in our discussions, we’ll come to understand that these wonderful writers were painting the story of the American Jew finding their place in the world. This interactive class will have you singing in the zoom room, and feel ever prouder to be a Jew in America.
This class qualifies for the “Arts and Culture” category of the Chochmat Lev, A Learned Heart Certificate.
