What is social justice? What makes a hero? How do injustices (such as homelessness, racism, and gender inequality) relate to my life?
5th grade is discussing these thought-provoking questions and exploring how social justice applies to Judaism and the Torah.
By closely analyzing the texts Isaiah 2:1-4 and Proverbs 31:1-9, we are beginning to think about what it means to have power, and specifically the power to make a positive change in the world. We are also using these texts to improve our Hebrew reading skills, and bolstering these skills with games such as Hebrew Bingo and Hangman.
5th grade will continue to build upon these ideas throughout the year, and we are excited to create a class of social justice agents.
