17th of Cheshvan, 5776
It’s been a long time since I have updated the blog – October was a whirlwind and I hope to update the blog on a more regular basis going forward. In 3C we have been having a great time together. The students aren’t as quiet as they were on the first day and each week the kids have been bringing a little more energy. I’m very excited for the rest of the year! This Sunday, we are finishing up our introductory unit on creation myths. We have looked at different creation myths from ancient near east cultures and compared them to our own creation myth in the Torah. By comparing the two creation stories in the beginning of Genesis we identified key differences and discovered that the Torah is actually a composite of different texts written by more than one person! We also learned that the Torah is a sacred myth. Soon we will move into the bulk of our curriculum: the genesis narratives. We will start this unit with the story of Cain and Abel.
Don’t forget: This Sunday November 1 is Daylight Savings Time and clocks will be set back one hour at 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Also, coming up on Friday, November 20th is Shabbat Mishpachah. Register here!
Please be in touch with any comments, questions, or concerns and שבת שלום (Shabbat Shalom)!
