1st of Kislev, 5776
We have had a great two weeks in the classroom. We have been continuously working on our hebrew reading skills – practicing 20-30 minutes each class. Soon, I’ll be sending a hebrew packet home for students to continue their reading practice throughout the week. Just 5 minutes a day can make a difference!
Over the past two weeks, we have wrapped up our introductory units on creation and we have moved into the bulk of our curriculum: the genesis narratives. The first story we will read is Cain and Abel. To ease into this new unit we focused class this week on sacrifice – a theme strongly prevalent within the Cain and Abel story. As your children what sacrifice is and see if they can give you a good example of sacrifice. This Sunday, we will start to read the story and uncover additional themes within the text!
I have one important request for you all: we are in the process of collecting cell-phone numbers to reach parents using text alerts from the school when we need to communicate something to them quickly (i.e. canceling school Sunday morning). Please fill out this form.
Next, some announcements:
- This coming Sunday, November 15th the URJ Camps: Eisner, Crane Lake, Six Points Sci-Tech and Six Points Sports will be at Temple Israel for an informational assembly during class time from 10:15-10:45 with a special surprise courtesy of Sci-Tech – parents please attend! There will also be a table in the atrium from 10:45-1:15 for parents to get more information about camp.
- Shabbat Mispachah is next Friday, November 20. I would love to see you all there and have a fun shabbat evening with you and your family! Please RSVP using this link.
- Lastly, please like the Temple Israel of Boston Religious School page on Facebook!
Thanks for reading! Please be in touch with any comments, questions, or concerns and שבת שלום (Shabbat Shalom)!
