17th of Cheshvan, 5776
It’s been a long time since I have updated the blog – October was a whirlwind and I hope to update the blog on a more regular basis going forward. We had a great session yesterday afternoon – we have decided to combine section A and section B to create a more communal Grade 3 feel at religious school. So far, our big class has been full of lots of energy and we have had a great time together. In 3AB we have wrapped up our introductory units on creation and we have moved into the bulk of our curriculum: the genesis narratives. The first story we will read is Cain and Abel. To ease into this new unit we focused class yesterday on sacrifice – a theme strongly prevalent within the Cain and Abel story. We worked in small groups and rotated around three stations: Hebrew, discussion, and a group activity where we identified things that are important to us and things that we would sacrifice to keep those important things.
Don’t forget: This Sunday November 1 is Daylight Savings Time and clocks will be set back one hour at 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Also, coming up on Friday, November 20th is Shabbat Mishpachah. Register here!
Please be in touch with any comments, questions, or concerns and שבת שלום (Shabbat Shalom)!
