Riverway Project (20s and 30s)
Riverway Events
SOUL FOOD FRIDAY
Enjoy an upbeat and engaging Qabbalat Shabbat Service led by Rabbi Jeremy Morrison, Rabbi Stephanie Kolin, and a live band, The Josh Nelson Project. A free oneg of Jewish soul food follows the service. This is a great introduction to the Riverway community.
TORAH AND TONICS ON TUESDAY
Eat, drink and delve into the weekly Torah portion with Rabbi Jeremy Morrison or Rabbi Stephanie Kolin. Torah and Tonics is a great way to study a few texts closely, explore different interpretations, and get to know other Riverway Project participants.
Complimentary dinner, beer and wine are available at 6:30 p.m., and the text study runs from 7 to 8 p.m. You know more than you think: No prior Jewish study experience is necessary.
Riverway Participants celebrate Passover in JP.
NEIGHBORHOOD CIRCLES
Celebrate Shabbat and study with your neighbors in intimate settings hosted by Riverway participants. These small, home-based gatherings include Qabbalat Shabbat Services, Potluck Dinners, and Mining for Mining study groups.
We currently have four neighborhood circles: Brookline, Cambridge/Somerville, Downtown Boston, and Jamaica Plain.
RIVERWAY TOTS
On some Friday evenings at 5 p.m. parents with young children (age 5 and younger) will gather for a quick kids' dinner at the temple and then make their way to the 5:45 p.m. Qabbalat Shabbat Service in the Sanctuary. The goal of Riverway Tots is to create gatherings that are conducive to the schedules and activities of our youngest Riverway participants. We also want to offer opportunities for parents to meet and get to know one another.
HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS
Each year we plan special events to celebrate the holidays, such as Salsa Under the Sukkah, Tu B'Shevat Wine Tasting & Seder, Yom Kippur Break Fast, and Purim Slam.
Getting King Ahashuerus a bride Reality TV-stlye at our Purim Slam!
Please keep in mind that the Riverway Project aims to complement, not substitute, all of the great ways to participate in the Temple Israel community. We look forward to seeing you soon!
