Religious School Registration

Dear Parents,

Welcome to 2011-12 Religious School Registration.

Please complete all registration pages and click the "submit" button before closing.  The system will not automatically save pages along the way.  Once you are done, and click the submit button, your forms will be automatically emailed to the education office; you will get a confirmation of receipt.  You are encouraged to print out this information for future reference.

After a very successful first year, we are looking forward to maintaining the new program structure and schedule with shift choices as describe below:

Grades K-1
Students in Grades K-1 will attend religious school once weekly, on Sundays.
8:45-10:45 AM (Early) or 11:15-1:15 PM (Late).

Grades 2 - 7
Our program for students in grades 2-7 will continue to be offered twice a week.  As with grades K-1, we will offer 2nd-7th grade families an opportunity to attend one of two sessions: 8:45-10:45 AM (Early) and 11:15-1:15 PM (Late).  Each Sunday shift will be linked with a particular weekday session (Tuesday or Thursday 4:00 - 6:00 PM) in order to provide consistency in the classroom throughout the week:

Students who participate in the 8:45-10:45 AM (Early) session will attend the Thursday, 4:00 - 6:00 PM session.

Students who participate in the 11:15-1:15 PM (Late) session will attend the Tuesday, 4:00 - 6:00 PM session.

Our tutoring program will remain as an option for those who are unable to attend the weekday session.  Bar/Bat Mitzvah tutoring will be scheduled throughout Sunday mornings, from 8:45 AM -1:15 PM.

Our school year will begin in mid September and will end in mid June, coinciding with the conclusion of the public school year.

The Interim (Sundays 10-45-11:15 AM)
On most Sundays, the Youth Choir will meet from 10:45 - 11:15 AM.  In addition, on several Sundays in the course of the year, we will gather as an entire community during the Interim for assemblies and holiday celebrations.  We will, on occasion, use this period for grade-wide family education programs.  Additionally, 3 or 4 times a year we will gather as a school-wide community for special programs that will occur between 9:30 - 12:30 on Sunday mornings.  We will provide a schedule of these gatherings before the beginning of the school year.

When registering, you will have the opportunity to indicate your preferred choice for a Sunday session (Early/Late) and the linked weekday session (Tuesday or Thursday).  Siblings will be guaranteed the same schedule.  Depending on demand, we will utilize a lottery system to ensure balanced participation in both Sunday shifts and weekday sessions.

Lottery clarification: If we see that in any grade there are more requests for a particular session than we can place, we will conduct a lottery.  This lottery will be by grade, on an as needed basis, and only those families who have completed all the forms and paid the required fees by the deadline date (May 16th) will be included.

Fees
In consultation with the Board of Trustees and with the support of the Elementary Education committee, we have raised fees to $200 per student for the coming year.  In response to temple-wide budget reductions, this increase in fees is necessary in order to maintain the high level of educational support we provide to every student in our school.

Please be in touch with Irina Preys at 617-566-3960 if you have any questions about the registration process or school fees.

Please remember that registration and eligibility for the lottery (if needed) is dependent upon fulfillment of the following financial obligations: your Books and Materials fees for 2010-2011 must have been paid and your current membership must be in good standing.   Additionally, by July 31 we expect you to have renewed your membership for 2011-12.
Please contact Jamie Darsa in Membership 617-566-3960 or Kristin Smith in Accounting at 617-566-3960 with any questions regarding your account or with any financial concerns you may have.

We look forward to your continued partnership in the unfolding process of building an exciting and dynamic school.
