Happy Passover!
Passover is the ultimate liberation celebration that reminds us that even in the face of tyranny, it is possible to move from degradation to freedom. We gather together at the Passover Seder to tell the Exodus story that has inspired oppressed people across the world for countless generations and remember that none of us are free until we all are free.
At Temple Israel of Boston, we come together as a community to mark the Seder together, infusing ancient symbols and traditions with contemporary ones as we reflect on the meaning of liberation in our world today. Don’t miss the annual matzah brei taste-test competition where each member of our clergy will present their unique recipe for this classic Passover treat!

Passover Volunteer Opportunity: Deliver a Meal to a Family in Need
JFCS (Jewish Family and Children’s Service) is gearing up to deliver holiday meal boxes to neighbors who need our help. Many volunteers are needed to make it happen! Last year volunteers joined hands with partners at other local Jewish agencies to deliver over 3,000 Passover meals to people in our community. JF&CS would love your help delivering these complimentary, home-delivered meal boxes on April 17 – 18.
How to Volunteer
Passover meal deliveries to the Boston/Brighton/Brookline area are scheduled for Thursday, April 18.
Meal deliveries to other geographic areas are scheduled for Wednesday, April 17.
To sign up for a volunteer shift:
- Click on a Sign-up link below, which will bring you to a SignUpGenius form for the geographic locations where boxed meals and delivery addresses will be obtained. The pickup location closest to Temple Israel is the Brookline/Brighton/Boston region and is scheduled for Thursday, April 18.
- Each volunteer is asked to sign up for ONE 15-minute slot to pick up the meal you will deliver.
- Please arrive at that location at the designated pick up time to receive your delivery addresses and meal boxes. We estimate that the delivery time will take between 1 – 2 hours (or less) after you leave the pick-up location.
- Please note: JF&CS requires all volunteers to be CORI approved. If you are planning on volunteering and have not yet been CORI approved by JF&CS, please complete the Volunteer Forms Packet.
