Intergenerational Programs

Volunteering

If you have a few hours to give each week or every other week, and love children, we need you! No classroom experience is necessary. We will be happy to train you. Please call the Early Childhood Center office at 617-739-6455 for more information. You do not need classroom experience to be a volunteer for our Intergenerational Program - just a love of children and a willingness to give a few hours each week. After a small amount of initial training, our volunteers enjoy a rewarding year of fun, work and play with our children. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in becoming a volunteer, please give us a call at the preschool office at 617-739-6455. You will join a wonderful group of volunteers and participate in a very worthwhile experience. Please consider sharing in this important mitzvah!

A reflection from one of our current volunteers:

"I have been a volunteer since I was 12 years old at jobs that, as I grew older, became more and more interesting and fulfilling.  Currently I am an 'intergenerational volunteer' in the Red Room.  Nothing that I have done in the past compares with the satisfaction and pleasure I receive during the three hours I spend weekly with amazing three- and four-year-olds and their equally amazing and creative, dedicated teachers.  Women, and yes, men, who have the time and who love being around and working with young children would do themselves a favor by contacting [Bev Katz, the volunteer coordinator] to learn what opportunities are available."
