Partakers supports Massachusetts prison education by coordinating teams of volunteers who mentor incarcerated women and men as they pursue higher education through the Boston University Prison Education Program, the Tufts Prison Initiative, and the Emerson Prison Initiative.

Through its College Behind Bars mentoring program, incarcerated people enhance skills critical to completing a college degree, and build trusting personal relationships. Both activities significantly increase their chances for success when they return to the community.

What’s happening on the border is horrifying—and it’s happening here in Massachusetts, too. Every week ICE arrests and detains our neighbors, separating them from their families and children. The Boston Immigration Justice Accompaniment Network (BIJAN) has created the Beyond Bond and Legal Defense Fund to bond people out of detention so that they can be with their family and community as they pursue their legal options. So far we have helped to raise over $65,000 and bonded out more than 25 people. We are a network of faith communities, individuals, and other activist groups working to reduce the escalating harm of our immigration system by providing support in court, legal referrals, fundraising for bond or legal fees, and logistical assistance with transportation, paperwork, or bond payments.  Seeking support for yourself or a loved one? Call 857-308-2527 or email BIJAN.accompaniment@gmail.com (for people who are not detained).
