Temple Israel Brotherhood
The goals of the Brotherhood are to help our members become better Jews and better men through knowledge of Judaism and increased participation in Temple and Brotherhood activities. In addition, the Brotherhood attempts to create better understanding and appreciation of Jews and Judaism through its educational project, the Jewish Chautauqua Society. Our goal is to spread the spiritual values of Judaism as a way of enriching the lives of Brotherhood members.
How does the Brotherhood accomplish its aims? Brotherhood sponsers monthly dinner programs featuring a variety of guest speakers, coordinates the annual Chanukah Film Festival and sponsors the annual Brotherhood Red Sox vs. Yankees night at Fenway Park.
The Simons-Gutman Committee, an arm of the Brotherhood, uses its separate endowment to make grants to worthwhile organizations at an annual dinner. The Brotherhood raises funds for the Jewish Chautaqua Society to sponsor lectures on college campuses on Judaism. Brotherhood contributes lectures on college campuses on Judaism. Brotherhood contributes funds to the Passport to Israel programs and the Temple building funds needs and through its Radio-TV Fund, underwrites the cost of the radio and TV programming of the Rabbi and others. The Brotherhood also provides records and tapes of Jewish liturgical music for the Temple library and showcases for their display. Throughout the year, the Brotherhood attempts to assist various other causes, both inside and outside the Temple whenever it is able to do so.
Call us, write us, come to our events. We look forward to meeting and welcoming you into the Brotherhood during the coming program year.
Meetings are held at the Temple on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. All interested Temple members are invited. |
