Today in class we learned about and discussed the story of Jacob and Esau, or in Hebrew Ya’akov and Esav. Esav was named this way because of the hair that covered his whole body. Ya’akov was named because he was holding Esav’s “akev” or heel when the twins were born. We learned of Ya’akov tricking Yitzchak (Isaac) to give him the eldest son’s birthright instead of letting Esav receive this blessing. Afterwards, we talked about our own relationships with our siblings/close friends and how we would feel if we were part of this story. See our artwork below:
We love singing at school. We use song to remember many of the Hebrew words we learn each week. This week, we reviewed songs we already knew: Rosh, Ktfayim, Birkayim, Etzba’ot and Yumpadum.
