Celebrating TI and You
...with A Review of What We've Been up to...
On Sunday, May 6, in conjunction with TI's three-year project of exploring its relationship with Israel, the stage was set for an improvisational music and verbal dialogue for peace and co-existence in the Middle East. Aaron Goldberg, one of our own who years ago became a Bar Mitzvah at TI, was joined by Ali Amr, Jamey Haddad, Omer Avital, and Tareq Rantisi. They were also joined by well over 100 members of the TI community.
Here is what TI President Kathryn Madden had to say about the evening:
"The walls of the synagogue absorbed and will always carry the echo of the Salaam/Shalom Jazz for Peace. This ensemble was as diverse as it could possibly be in both nationality and religion but there were no barriers at all when they hit their rhythm. My husband would have been happy to hear more of their incredible music, but I found the musician's narratives to be very moving as they recounted their difficulties in the simple acts of playing gigs, auditioning for school, and attending music conservatory when borders and Mideast politics got in the way."
We hope you'll join us for more communal harmony at upcoming TI events.

On Sunday, April 29, the 6th Annual A Cappella Fest occurred at Temple Israel. An artistic endeavor to bring the talent of our local Jewish day schools and universities into the synagogue setting, it was a special evening nurturing our kids' Jewish identity and improving their musical skills through the art of song. The proceeds of the event benefit went to the Gift of Life Foundation Bone Marrow Registry, whose representatives were also there swabbing potential donors.
