Madrichim Program

Are you in 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade?

Would you like to work with young children?

This is the chance you've been waiting for: be a part of the Madrichim Program at Temple Israel!!

As a madrich or madricha, you'll have the chance to work under an experienced teacher in our Religious School program on Sundays.

You will work with one group of students in Kindergarten through Sixth Grade for the length of the school year, helping them grow and deepening their connection to Jewish learning. Over the course of the year, you'll work with your teacher and with the Teen Educator to broaden your classroom management skills, deepen your subject knowledge, and gain new tools for engaging younger students in learning.

Key Information:

  • The Madrichim Program is by application only. Even returning madrichim must submit an application in order to be considered.
  • All madrichim will join the Religious School Faculty Orientation session in September in order to get to know the teachers they will be working with throughout the year.
  • All madrichim will participate in monthly full-group sessions where madrichim from both shifts can learn from each other and share experiences and tools.
  • Madrichim who are new to the program spend their first six weeks observing the classrooms, learning, training and developing their skills with the Teen Educator/Madrichim Coordinator.
  • Each Religious School class will have no more that two madrichim working in it.
