Hello Grade 3 Parents,
I hope that all of your holiday seasons were filled with lots of light and that you enjoyed quality time with your families over the school break. It was a wonderful fall and beginning of winter learning with your students and I am looking forward to welcoming the students back this week!
We are moving through the stories in Genesis quickly and I am learning that this group of third graders is eager to read and discuss the Torah. This year we’ve learned about teshuva, sukkot, creation, Cain & Abel, sacrifice, Noah’s ark, the epic of gilgamesh, covenant, Tower of Babel, and we ended 2015 with a celebratory Hanukkah party! Ask your kids about these topics and see what they can tell you.
During the last few Tuesday & Thursday sessions I introduced the students to a new way of learning Hebrew vocabulary on the TI iPads. I’m working out a way to send the vocab lists I’ve created to you all electronically so that if the kids would like, they can practice this vocab at home. It’s really fun to see how excited they get about Hebrew vocab when using the iPads!
In the next few weeks, we’ll continue to move through Genesis with Abraham’s story, we’ll talk about Israel, and we’ll continue working on Hebrew reading skills.
I’m sure you all are aware of the upcoming events that were announced via the Religious School News, but I wanted to remind you here as well.
